Welcome to Second Hope Rescue 

of Southern Maryland

We are a group of animal loving friends that have joined together to fill a niche in the Tri-County area of Southern Maryland. We are committed to giving "Second Hope" to hard to place animals (due to breed or age) that are searching for their forever homes.

Collectively we have over 20 years of rescue experience, either with other rescues or by doing rescue on our own.


We are in desperate need for foster homes! Fostering is a wonderful way to help so many homeless animals! Contact us if would like more information about fostering.


We are pleased to announce that we have partnered with a great company, OurLeatherandLace.com, that will be making shirts and hoodies for us to help our continued fundraising efforts. There are several to use choose from and multitudes of colors and sizes. You order directly from them and don't forget to check out all the other wonderful things they offer. Everything they sell is American made, and we believe in supporting American small business.


We do not have a physical location to come visit all the animals in our care. Our animals are fostered in our homes, in the Tri-County area. To meet any of our animals please check our Events page for a schedule of adoption events.


Due to COVID-19 restrictions, we are not holding public adoption events. If you are interested in one of our dogs or cats, please submit an application and a private meet and greet will be arranged once the application is approved.  A link to our application can be found on the bottom of this page or you can send an email to Tina at [email protected]  Thank you.

We are a 501(c)(3) charity funded entirely by donations. As you can imagine, the cost of fostering, feeding and providing veterinary care for our animals is far more than the amount charged for adoption fees. Donations, no matter how small, help pay our costs.
